Brause Drawing Nibs - Sets
Brause was founded in Iserlohn, Germany in 1850. It was a region famous for the quality of its steel and the skill of its craftsmen. Since then, Brause has been crafting a complete line of calligraphy nibs considered to be one of the best on the market by professional calligraphers.
B511 Drawing Nibs - Medium Soft is a high flex nib that produces fine hairlines, small swells, and requires a gentle hand. Very similar to the Brause 513 nib in appearance and performance, save for a few key differences: The 511 is scratchier, and does not glide well on textured paper. The 511 is also more flexible than the 513, making it more suitable for intermediate and advanced calligraphers than beginners. Excellent for drawing, tiny writing, and Spencerian. Suitable for Copperplate.
B513 Drawing Nibs - Dure is a medium flex nib that produces great line variation, from fine hairlines to super swells. Very similar to the Brause 511 nib in appearance and performance, save for a few key differences: The 513 is not as scratchy, making it easier to use on textured papers such as Arches hot press. The 513 is less flexible than the 511, making it more user-friendly for beginners.
