Quick Overview

Pebeo Vitrea 160 are transparent, non-toxic, intermixable, water based paints designed specifically for use on glass and crystal. Vitrea 160 can be fixed to the surface by baking the painted surface at 160°C (325°F) in a domestic oven, after which the depth of the colour is enhanced and the paints are dishwasher safe. Vitrea 160 can also be applied to other thermostable surfaces which can withstand a temperature of 160°C (325°F) such as metal, ceramic, crystal, vases, lamps, and even an entire window surface.

The Vitrea 160 range includes 36 Colours in 45 ml bottles - 30 remarkably transparent colours (20 glossy / brilliant colours, 10 frosted colours) and 6 shimmer shades, 10 Relief Outliners in 20 ml tubes and 18 Colours in markers for magnificent decorations on glass. The Vitrea 160 colours combine professional quality, excellent lightfastness and ease of use. The frosted Colours allow for an etched glass look. There are 4 mediums as well which allow for reproduction of crackled, iridescent and frosted glass effects.

There are a few major differences between Vitrea 160 and Porcelaine 150. Vitrea sets / fixes to the surface at 160°C, while Porcelaine sets at 150°C. Vitrea 160 offers more of a blown / fused glass look. They are more fluid and mix easier than Porcelaine. In the case of Vitrea colours, individual colours seem to have many swirling colours inside, whereas Porcelaine colours are more solid. Vitrea and Porcelaine colours are not intermixable.

We recommend that you use a soft, natural / synthetic fibre brush, such as Pebeo Iris, Princeton VelveTouch, Escoda Ultimo, Escoda Prado, Escoda Versatil, Princeton Miniature or any of the soft bristle brushes available on our website.

Applied on glass and crystal, the transparency of Vitrea 160 colours allows you to take full advantage of the light. Vitrea 160 are ready to use colours. The characteristics and properties of the Vitrea 160 colours remain the same across liquid, outliner or felt tip markers. Either used alone or together, you are completely free to experiment with the effects and techniques of the paints. The glossy or frosted appearance of the colours provides an infinite variety of light and shadow effects. After baking, colours are exceptionally intense and glass seems to be body-dyed.

Before painting with Vitrea 160, simply degrease with alcohol or soapy water. After painting, allow to air dry for 24 hours, then place the decorated object in a cold oven. Once the temperature has reached 160°C (325°F), allow to bake for 40 minutes. After baking, colours are dishwasher safe and resistant to detergents and common solvents. For a better resistance / durability, use dishwasher ECO programme and place in top rack. Only the areas not intended to be put in contact with food must be decorated.
