Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylic - Mediums
Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylics Mediums allow artists to fully explore the versatility of acrylics helping to improve durability, extending and enhancing colour and improving flow and brush ability. With the help of mediums W&N Acrylics may be used in a fluid, gestural manner (much like watercolour) and in heavier applications (as with oils) and allow acrylics to be shaped and carved, used for printmaking or for virtually any other technique.
Glazing Medium - used to build thin layers of glowing, brilliant colour, achieve maximum transparency, or to improve flow of W&N acrylics. It helps to achieve luminous and glowing effects.
Gloss Medium - Increases the depth, transparency and flow of colour making it ideal for blending or fine detail work. Gloss Medium dries completely clear to an even, Gloss finish.
Matt Medium - Increases the depth, transparency and flow of colour making it ideal for blending or fine detail work. Matt Medium dries completely clear to an even, matte finish and increases the water resistance of the colour when dry.
Slow Drying Medium - Slows the drying time of acrylic to give more working time of colour for extended blending and manipulation. A ratio of 1:1 volume doubles the drying time.
Flow Improver - Increases the flow of acrylic colours allowing the application of areas of flat, even colour without changing colour strength. It is also effective for hard edge painting techniques, staining and water colour techniques. To dilute colour significantly it is recommended to use flow improver with water in ratio 1:20 as this preserves the integrity of the paint film, ensuring the pigment remains sufficiently bound.
